Novak Djokovic wears the Basel 2 Kudu Suede loafer

Thursday 17th July 2014

We are thrilled to see 2014 Wimbledon champion and ATP World number 1 Novak Djokovic wearing the Basel 2 Kudu Suede in Tobacco whilst relaxing from his recent win and wedding.

Tennis rackets in hand, Djokovic seems to be a fan of the unrivalled comfort experienced when wearing the Basel. We like how he has chosen to wear them without socks to feel the full benefit of the unlined, luxuriously soft Kudu Suede moccasin construction.

Vacchetta | Natural Vegetable Tanned Leather

Friday 16th May 2014

Throughout history, three methods of leather tanning have been practised, employing agents belonging to the three kingdoms of nature – the vegetable, animal and mineral. Though we have filled up these three classes in detail with numerous variations, science has not enabled us to change greatly the processes themselves even in today’s modern age.

Vacchetta | Natural Vegetable Tanned Leather

Vacchetta | Natural Vegetable Tanned Leather

A substance known chemically as tannic acid naturally resides in many vegetable forms, such as in the barks of trees and shrubs, the leaves of plants and trees and the excrescences of vegetables and fruits. Decoctions of different strengths are made of these substances, and the hides and skins of our Vacchetta leather steeped in them until the tanning principle has thoroughly permeated the fibres.

This most traditional of tanning processes allows for a natural, transparent colour that perfectly lends itself to hand finishing and burnishing. The process also maintains the full-grain character of the skin, whilst producing a buttery soft touch and the rare patina that Vacchetta leather is so renowned for.

Available in our Basel 2 loafers, Dexter lace-ups and Luke sandals, explore the range here: Vacchetta

Jet Driver | Barefoot Technology

Introducing a new range of sport inspired genuine hand-sewn moccasins featuring an exclusive new sole design in collaboration with Vibram®, Italy. Taking inspiration from the growing trend of ‘barefoot’ shoe construction and barefoot running, we have developed a soft, lightweight construction that combines traditional craftsmanship with revolutionary outsole design.

The unique rubber ‘cleats’ on this sole wrap around the contours of the foot for maximum comfort, stability, traction and flexibility, whilst the low profile heel naturally forces you to land near your mid-foot or fore-foot rather than your heel. This results in a more efficient running or walking style and fewer injuries.

We call it ‘The Evolution of Comfort’.
